Giorgio Armani recently celebrated 40 years in fashion. Armani’s first taste of the industry came working in a department store. He went on to work as a designer for Nino Cerruti and began to do freelance work at the encouragement of his friend Sergio Galeotti.
Armani and Galeotti became business partners, founding Giorgio Armani S.p.A in 1975. The first menswear collection was produced and a womenswear collection launched the following year. At the time his clothes were revolutionary, with a natural fit and more subtle colour palette than other designers. His clothes were worn by Richard Gere in American Gigolo and he also provided items for the wardrobe of hit TV show, Miami Vice.
Armani went on to create an empire with labels including Armani Collezioni, Armani jeans, Armani Privé etc. He also opened restaurants, hotels and a publishing house under the Armani umbrella.
At Coneys we stock Armani Jeans menswear and womenswear as well as EA7 sportswear for men. The former is a denim brand with a youthful philosophy. Sports luxe inspired pieces with a bold colour palette. Premium quality essentials sit alongside dressier pieces with an emphasis on quality fabrics and timeless design.
Ea7 has a much sportier edge, designed for performance and style. A predominantly monochromatic colour palette is used to dramatic effect with bold graphic logos and colour blocking used on technical fabrics.
