The Story of Lacoste – the classic tennis polo and beyond…

It all began in 1933 when René Lacoste created the very first polo shirt. Made from a lightweight and airy petit piqué that was perfect for its primary intention: giving tennis players the freedom of movement, that up until that point in time, they were not accustomed to. The Lacoste polo, with its buttoned neckline and short sleeves, was a revolution. Comfortable and practical, René Lacoste’s design broke with tradition whilst being utterly timeless. Over the next few years, Lacoste introduced coloured versions of the famous L.12.12 polo (1951), developed the Lacoste tennis shoe (1958) and designed the Lacoste blouson jacket 1966. As time moved on the Lacoste brand developed into a full collection of sports-inspired casual wear.

Today, Lacoste is a world famous lifestyle brand and produces clothing inspired by, and intended for, many sports including golf and sailing. Much more than sportswear, Lacoste clothing is a range of stylish casualwear equally at home in and around the city as on the sports field! Clean lines, bold colours and French design all come together in a collection of sports luxe casualwear that includes men’s shirts, jackets, shorts and accessories.
